How is it that certain public policy options are considered acceptable while others are not? Answering this question is of great strategic importance in promoting healthy public policies. Governmental rationalities structure the areas of public policy and are a key element of the answer.

The session was held on June 9th, 2013 and introduced an analytical framework to help evaluate the political viability of various public policy options.

The workshop was intended to help participants :

1. Understand the basics of the governmentality approach;
2. Appreciate the strategic reflections it allows;
3. Evaluate the political acceptability of certain policy options.
