The National Collaborating Centres' third annual Summer Institute was held from August 5 to 8, 2008, in Kelowna, British Columbia. This year’s conference focused on research, education, implementation, and evaluation within the emerging science of knowledge synthesis, translation and exchange (KSTE). »»

Recently, the NCCHPP made two presentations to the Senate subcommittee on population health on the topics of knowledge translation and health impact assessment. »»

This workshop provided participants with models and tools for effecting systems change as each NCC gave an overview of public health Knowledge KSTE activities undertaken. Each NCC identified practical examples, shared lessons learned and success to date from doing KSTE in action as it relates to their area of focus, stakeholder/user groups and the determinants of health. »»

In the context of the "Knowledge Transfer: Tools and Strategies" session, Louise St-Pierre from the NCCHPP presented the Health Impact Assessment (HIA) approach and showed how it can be used as a tool to address health inequalities. »»

During the National Specialty Society for Community Medicine Continuing Professional Development day Val Morrison and Francois Benoit from the NCCHPP presented a case study of Station 20 West, a community health and social services centre in Saskatoon. They also hosted two small group sessions to enable participants to learn through this case study. »»

Val Morrison from the NCCHPP presented the notion of social cohesion/capital, using a case study of a community organization (Quint Development Corporation). »»

At the NCCPH Summer Institute held in Baddeck, NS in August 2007, Philip Davies presented a keynote address on knowledge management in public health. »»
