In the Spotlight this Month - An Introduction to the Ethical Implications of Economic Evaluations for Healthy Public Policy

This briefing note introduces the main types of economic evaluation, the ethical assumptions they share and the ways in which they can be read and interpreted so that values relevant for public health, which can conflict with those implicitly put forward by economic evaluations, do not fall out of the view of policy makers.

The NCCHPP at the Journées annuelles de santé publique (JASP)
.
The Centre will participate in the Journées annuelles de santé publique (JASP - Québec's Annual Public Health Days), to be held in Montréal from November 25 to 27, 2013.

HIA Workshop - On Tuesday November 26, Julie Castonguay and Louise St -Pierre will host a day-long methodological workshop entitled "Introduction to the health impact assessment of public policies." Please note that this workshop will be held in French. For more information, click here.

Built Environment Workshop - Also on November 26, François Gagnon and Olivier Bellefleur will do a short presentation during a workshop entitled "Environmental Inequalities and Health Effects: Understanding for Better Action." NCC Networking Breakfast
Tuesday November 26, from 7:30 - 8:30 at the Centres' booth

The NCCHPP, along with the other five National Collaborating Centres invite you to join us for a Networking Breakfast at JASP 2013. This will be an opportunity to have a look at the latest publications and tools related to the five Centres' themes: aboriginal health, environmental health, infectious diseases, healthy public policies, determinants of health and methods and tools in public health.

Don't miss this great networking opportunity! Coffee, croissants and fruits will be served at the Centres' booth in the exhibitor's hall.

The 12th International Conference on Health Impact Assessment (HIA): New issues arising from the evolution of the practice - Summary of Discussions
.
In August 2012, the NCCHPP was part of the 12th International Conference on HIA, an event that took place in Québec City and which drew close to 400 participants from 42 countries. In this document, the NCCHPP has highlighted the key messages drawn from the conference, relating to Health in All Policies, HIA institutionalization, the diversity of the practice and what we have learned so far about its effectiveness.

This logic model represents both the process and the expected potential outcomes of our knowledge-sharing activities. It's a first step in guiding the evaluation of our knowledge-sharing activities, in that it breaks down the various aspects to be evaluated and thus helps to develop the corresponding indicators.
