This document is intended for the various stakeholders who wish to grasp the needs of the workforce at local and regional levels with regards to population mental health, and develop resources, tools or strategies to support that workforce. We first examine four Canadian initiatives which have contributed to assessing the assets and needs of actors involved in population mental health-related activities. Then we summarize the needs that were identified through these four initiatives and propose avenues for action in support of those needs, while building on experiences from the United Kingdom and Europe. Finally, to illustrate these avenues for action, we include a selection of Canadian examples.
